Birthlink (formerly Family Care Incorporated) is a registered adoption service under Section 2(11)(b) of the Regulation of Care ( Scotland ) Act 2001, which provides a specialised post adoption service.
Aims:
To enhance the well-being and promote the welfare of all people affected by adoptions formalised in Scotland , the provision of assistance to local authorities in the fulfillment of their statutory responsibilities towards adopted persons and their families and the development of a comprehensive strategy on post adoption service provision across Scotland.
Service users are adopted adults, birth parents of people adopted as children and their families, adoptive families, local authorities and voluntary adoption agencies. Other social care and health professionals may contact the service for advice.
Birthlink also provides a service to people who had been in the care of the City of Edinburgh Council .
Birthlink is regulated by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of
Care and has an annual inspection and report which can be viewed on request
at our office at 21 Castle Street, Edinburgh.
